Welcome back to another school year!  I am happy to have your child in my class and I look forward to working together with you during this upcoming year.  This year in 5th grade your child will explore America and its rich history, geography and culture.  Our year-long theme of "This Land is Your Land" will provide integrated experiences in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and visual and performing arts.

            Please help your child have a successful year by carefully reading all correspondences and responding promptly to forms, notes home, phone calls, etc.  You will receive more extensive information on classroom schedules, policies, homework, and curriculum at Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 20.  For the time, please assist with the following:

Supplies

• A simple, sturdy, 3-ring binder
• Several sharpened pencils
• A kleenex box to help us get through the allergy and cold season
• Note:  No toys, gum, candy, or excess "stuff" in the classroom.  Lined paper, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, etc. are provided.

Forms

• Please read over your child's Homework Planner, front and back, on the first day of school.  Note all areas requiring your signature.
• Fill out emergency card (front and back) and other forms by Thursday.
